Support - Assessment - Intervention
I work across Altrincham, Trafford and Cheshire as a specialist dyslexia tutor and assessor. I also offer staff training and advice around dyslexia provision to schools plus guidance sessions for parents.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any queries about services provided:
Full diagnostic dyslexia assessment
from £480
Diagnostic dyslexia assessment provides the learner and their parents with an in depth analysis of areas of strengths and difficulties. Overall this should be a positive experience and can answer many questions about why a learner may be struggling, as well as useful ideas for ongoing support. An assessment usually takes around 3 hours and the final report will be available within three weeks. I always offer an initial phone call to discuss your concerns, with no charge.
Strengths and needs learning assessments available from January 2026
A shorter alternative to a full assessment and diagnosis - in some cases you may not be sure if an assessment is the best route currently, or your child may be a little young for a full assessment (guidelines suggest age 8 and at the end of year 3 to be the earliest that an assessment can provide the best basis for a diagnostic decision). In that case, a shorter assessment can take place. This would not give a diagnostic decision but would identify areas of strength and need, give personalised recommendations for support at home and at school, and provide valuable evidence towards any future diagnostic assessment. I am always happy to have an initial phone call (no charge) to discuss options.
Support for parents - £54/hour
I work very closely with parents in all aspects of my work and understand how difficult it can be to have concerns around your child’s learning. As a result you may be looking for ways to support your child at home. I can offer support for parents tailored to meet the needs of the family, working with you closely to produce, for example, strategies for homework support, engaging and effective ways to build spelling skills or to support reading or suggestions for next steps.
Tuition from £40/hour
Currently I have no availability for tutoring but please contact me regarding my waiting list, or ideas for support and guidance at home.
Dyslexia tuition teaches learners specific dyslexia - friendly strategies for overcoming their challenges, including new and motivating ways to develop their reading and spelling skills. A specialist tutor will tailor lessons completely around the learner's specific needs, ensuring the best chances of success. Sessions are designed to be highly engaging and will always prioritise building self-esteem alongside literacy skills.
Working with Schools
I have worked extensively in primary schools and am currently Lead Teacher for specific learning difficulties at a highly regarded Warrington primary school where I lead on interventions and develop dyslexia provision. We were awarded the BDA Quality Mark for Dyslexia Friendly Schools in 2023. I also work with local Sencos providing guidance around recommendations for dyslexia support.
I can offer:
-
Staff training for teaching dyslexic learners
-
Strategic support around the development of dyslexia provision in schools
-
Advice on working towards achieving the BDA Dyslexia Quality Mark.
